Excellence (Gold and Silver) Scholarship Essay Contests

The number of Gold and Silver Scholarship Essay Contests awards available varies each year; normally a small number of Gold Scholarships and a larger number of Silver Scholarships are available. There is a single application process; the best applicants will be awarded Gold Scholarships, and the second ranked ones awarded Silver. We do not consider country of origin when determining the recipients of Scholarship awards. The Scholarship Essay Contests award is only available for one year for research degree programmes.

POST-DOC Scholarship Essay Contests POSITION

Scholarship Essay Contests Flexibility is a key aspect of automation, the typical case is that in small batches of products are in the initial phase of the information provided, but higher numbers are expected later. That alone is a compromise between the different levels of automation, where people are naturally more flexible than machines, so that automation can improve the efficiency and accuracy, and increase security. One goal is to easily transfer between different levels of automation, starting with manual actions, and later by the replacement of the ramp operations man with robots, etc.Scholarship Essay Contests To achieve this goal all participants as a production system, including products, resources (machines, robots , Conveyor belts), people, information and control systems must be flexible and coordinated the exchange between manual and automated operations is easy to reach.

The Scholarship Essay Contests work includes research questions of flexibility and security in the area of automation technology development, where an important factor is the different levels of automation and its impact economically, socially and ecologically. Formal modeling, verification and synthesis of control functions for such systems would be a big part of the research. The research will be developed in collaboration with researchers from the Department of Production Engineering, carried out at Chalmers.

Required qualifications

You have a recent Ph.D. degree related to formal aspects of automation. You have a good theoretical background and an interest to work on real-world problems. Experience of testing and verification of PLC programs, and knowledge in formal languages and finite state machines is an advantage. Furthermore, an interest in interdisciplinary work with researchers and engineers from other fields is essential, as are skills in simulation techniques and mathematical analysis. You should have excellent command of spoken and written English and have good collaborative skills. Teaching experience is an advantage.

About the Postdoc position
The Postdoc Scholarship Essay Contests position is an appointment that offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry. The appointment is for 1+1 years of full-time employment, with a monthly salary paid. Most of your working time is devoted to your own research. Included in your work is also to take part in supervision of Ph.D. students and M.Sc thesis students. Teaching of undergraduate students may also be included to a smaller extent. You will attend international conferences and meetings, where you will present your own work and establish useful contacts with other researchers. The position commences from Sept 1, 2011.

Scholarship Essay Contests Application procedure

The application shall be written in English and include the following items:

1. An application of a maximum of one A4 page containing your specific qualifications for the position
2. Curriculum Vitae including list of publications
3. Two reference persons who can be contacted by Chalmers (describe association with them and give their contact addresses)
4. Attested copies of education certificates, including grade reports and other documents
